I wrote this song because I went through a period of uncertainty, where I was working hard for something I could not see; yet believed that it was what God was calling me to do. Trust me, it may have sounded easy but it was no simple feat at all as I seemed foolish to the world. All I could rely on at this time was God’s promises and the faith in His unchanging character. It drew me to remembering His power and His all-knowing character and therefore to letting go to a God who will take care of me.

The line ‘Let go of the gripping hand upon my life’ and the image of us clinging on to our lives was very striking for me. I love this song a lot because it helps me remember to truly let go of my entire life to Him, even when it’s hard. I pray that by listening to this song, you’ll slowly release your clenched fists on different aspects of your life and lift your hands to the Lord in full surrender. (Matthew 6:25-34)
